The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) are international mechanisms of the United Nations (UN). Each mechanism has a committee that oversees compliance and application of the covenant and convention by States. States must submit reports giving an account of the measures applied for the effective fulfillment of rights in their territories. To corroborate the veracity of these reports, the United Nations receives “shadow reports” or “alternative reports” from civil society organizations to provide additional elements to the reports produced by States. In this context, since 2016, with the aim of raising awareness of the violation of the rights of rural women in the Chaco region of Argentina, Fundación Plurales, together with different technical and territorial organizations, have collectively prepared various reports (CEDAW 2016, EPU 2017 and DESC 2018), using their own methodology, the step-by-step process of which is reflected in the video.
