Since 2009, RedTISA – Innovation and Technologies for Sustainable Inclusive Development and the Institute for Studies on Science and Technology (Universidad Nacional de Quilmes) have developed spaces for debate, reflection and collective construction of knowledge and technologies aimed at sustainable inclusive development from a “praxis” perspective, that is, seeking to integrate different types of capacities – theoretical production, territorial intervention, political influence and training – and learning in and with heterogeneous actors. In this sense, numerous events have been supported and promoted together with partner organizations over the years:
- Sustainable Technologies Fair (2009-2015)
- Innovate to Include Cycle TECNOPOLIS (2013)
- Science and Technology Study Conference (since 2011)
- International Workshop Networks, technology and innovation for inclusive development – TRANSIT Social Innovation (2014)
- Workshops The challenges of PRAXIS. Innovation and technologies for development (2016)
- GRI-GRI Pixel (2018)
- International Workshop on Circular Economy and Social Innovation from the Global South (2019)
- Webinar Cycle “Towards socio-technical citizenship” (2020/21)
- PRAXIS 2022 Congress. Innovation and knowledge for socio-environmental transformation from the Global South.
- among other events…!
Along these lines, the PRAXIS Congress 2024 under the motto “Innovation for Socio-environmental Transformation from the Global South” is promoted on this occasion by RedTISA, IESCT-UNQ, REDES Magazine, International Network of SDG Promoters, LabI&EC, Federal University of Santa Catarina, National University of Mar del Plata, National Technological University – Avellaneda, State University of Campinas, SEDCERO Program, Plurales Foundation, Semi-arid Platform, Colabor Project (UMET) and the International Network for Decolonization of Science and Technology Education. This edition has the support of the Extension Secretariat of the National University of Quilmes and CONICET. This initiative seeks to increase the degree of connection and learning between various types of practices (academic, technological and social) developed in universities, R&D institutions, state and non-governmental organizations, social movements, cooperatives, networks and other forms of organization to enhance the transformations that enable social and environmental justice. Likewise, the initiative urges to improve the effectiveness and influence of the scientific-technological field to expand the modes of knowledge production in terms of political influence. And at the same time, it aims to open work spaces for technologists and practitioners who seek to contribute to the current challenges of the planet – social inclusion, climate change, pandemic, etc. – by coordinating their actions with others. This space will be dedicated to identifying various types of practices of “production of scientific knowledge and know-how” and – at the same time – of “innovating” for socio-environmental transformation.
