The We are all Apodi experience is a social innovation of popular mobilization for the defense of the agroecological territory of Chapada do Apodi, in Rio Grande do Norte. Between 2011 and 2012, the Women’s Commission of the Organization of Women of the Union of Rural Workers of Apodi (STTR Apodi) was the protagonist of a large mobilization process to confront agro- and hydro-business companies, whose implementation project required the expropriation of approximately 13 thousand hectares of small family farms in the territory. The project became known by the local population as “The Death Project.”
