The Popular Innovation and Production Program (PIPP) was created in 2020 within the framework of the Secretariat for Linkage and Technology Transfer, with the purpose of developing strategies for linkage and technological innovation aimed at popular sectors, in order to co-design and co-produce sustainable technologies for social inclusion, generating open R&D possibilities, which seek to contribute to the productive framework of the popular sectors and to the reduction of inequalities in their living conditions.
Particularly, the PIPP focuses on linking with popular field organizations in the areas of production and innovation in five strategic areas: habitat, popular economy, family agriculture, health and disability, education and culture.
In 2020, the PIPP made the first call for Ideas-Projects to contribute to the generation of Popular Innovation Projects. It had the participation of more than 40 proposals. Among them, one of the selected projects is presented, which received support from Pipp, called: “Conscious and healthy eating: the incorporation of fish in the school menu”, from teachers and researchers from the Faculty of Engineering of the UNMDP.
Currently, the call for project ideas 2022 is in process and although it is incipient to reflect on this, it is possible to affirm that there is great interest and participation from different sectors, academic units and tertiary institutions. Among the main areas of interest are: the co-design of tools, materials and processes for the construction sector, disability and labor inclusion and socio-technical adaptation processes of technologies for older adults. Likewise, the main demands are identified as the search for financing, the validation of processes already underway by the University, as well as the generation of training and capacity building instances.
