The reservoir is a water saving strategy developed by the members of the Association of Agricultural and Organic Producers of Sierra Tecapa (APAOSIETE). The reservoir is a resilient technology that allows farmers to store rainwater through a tank or structure. The advantages of this method are that producers can guarantee water throughout the year, both in winter and summer. To prevent water evaporation due to high temperatures, farmers place seaweed inside the reservoir that, in addition to storing rainwater, allows fish farms to be generated within the reservoir. In this way, the seaweed fulfills the function of feeding the fish and preventing the water from evaporating; while families guarantee one more food source by growing fish.
